Inspired by challenges

During my orientation internship, which was conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I didn’t have the chance to experience the atmosphere, organization, and teamwork of a real worksite. So, when the MCS Internship program was announced again in my fourth year, I knew I didn’t want to miss it this time. When submitting my application, my main goal was clear — to challenge myself. After being selected, I finally had the opportunity to work on-site for a major project, which became the most valuable experience of my student years.

I joined the Oyu Tolgoi underground mine’s ore handling system construction project as an Assistant Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer. For the first time, I saw and took part in engineering solutions, precise installation planning, and high-quality standards required for underground facilities. This not only expanded my technical knowledge but also taught me the importance of meticulous planning and flawless execution.

The program gave me Opportunity, Knowledge, and Experience all at once. By the end of it, I became more confident, bolder in decision-making, and more effective in teamwork.To future participants, I would say this — take the first step with courage; here, you will have every opportunity to ask, learn, and contribute. This is not just an internship — it’s a major step toward defining your future path.

Our team has proudly delivered major international-level projects, independently and successfully executed by Mongolian engineers for the first time.

Through landmark developments such as the Bulgan–Mörön, Arvaikheer–Bayankhongor, and Mandalgobi–Tavantolgoi–Oyu Tolgoi overhead transmission lines and substations, as well as the power supply for the Ukhaa Khudag mine, we brought electricity to rural provinces, towns, and soums that once lived in darkness. This contribution to the nation’s development is one of our greatest sources of pride.

Since joining MCS International, I have continuously grown both personally and professionally as an engineer. Every project I work on brings new learning opportunities and allows me to deepen my technical knowledge. Being involved in world-class projects such as the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Mine, the MCC Water Conveyance System, the modification works at CHPP-3 and CHPP-4, and the SCADA System Construction has given me invaluable exposure to how international standards, quality management, and construction regulations are applied in real, large-scale developments. The unique challenges and daily problem-solving processes of these projects accelerate growth—knowledge that might take years to gain elsewhere, I have acquired within just three to four years.

I first joined the company as a Document Control Officer and, within two years, advanced to Quality Engineer. This progression reflects the company’s culture of recognizing talent, trusting its people, and opening pathways for professional growth. Our leaders actively support us in tackling complex challenges, offering guidance and direction that play a vital role in delivering successful projects.

The company’s development environment and the regular training provided by the MCS Academy have also been instrumental in my progress. Beyond engineering, I have gained knowledge in psychology, communication, business skills, and project management—training that I can directly apply to my work.

Our team is young, dynamic, and composed of engineers with diverse skills. We learn from one another, share what we know, and focus on solutions rather than problems. In such an environment, anyone with the will to learn has unlimited opportunities to grow and advance.

I am most proud of successfully leading a talented young team to complete the trial and adjustment work of the gold processing plant in Bayankhundii, in a very short time. While working on the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Mine Ore Extraction Project, I had one of my most memorable experiences — learning and gaining valuable knowledge from my teammates, even though my background was in a different field. I believe our work is meaningful and full of purpose, as it brings light and warmth to people’s lives. Every time I share my experience and provide guidance to younger colleagues, I feel that I am in the right place, doing the right work. Completing every task safely, on time, and with the highest quality together with my team gives me the greatest motivation. The company’s consistent support — especially in health insurance, medical checkups, and housing assistance — has been an invaluable contribution to my family’s well-being. Our work is truly a labor of love and purpose; as I often say, “Imagine life without electricity.” To new team members, I would say — be sincere, honest, and committed to what you do, and life will reward you in return. I am always proud that every project and initiative of our company delivers real, tangible results that positively impact people’s lives.

Passionate about making a difference

I value maintaining a healthy balance between work and life. Since my daughter is just over one year old, I sometimes work from home when there’s no one to look after her. When possible, I go to the office in the morning, head home earlier in the afternoon, and continue working from there. For me, what matters most is not the number of hours worked, but the results and productivity I achieve. My supervisor also focuses on performance rather than time spent in the office, and this flexibility allows me to dedicate time to my loved ones while staying motivated and engaged in my work.

Working from home also gives me the chance to manage my child’s daily needs—feeding, naps, outdoor time—while staying on top of my tasks. Once she’s asleep, I can fully focus on work. This kind of flexibility and understanding extends to my colleagues as well; when urgent tasks arise, they approach them positively, without creating stress or pressure.

I also have plenty of opportunities to spend quality time with my family on weekends. Our company has many family-friendly practices and policies. For example, events and celebrations are held on weekdays, with full pay, so weekends can truly be devoted to family. There are also paid leave options for life’s unexpected needs—doctor’s visits, school, or official matters—which has been a huge support. Working here has not only benefited me, but has also shown my family and friends what it means to work in a truly flexible and supportive environment.

Since joining the company, I’ve grown personally and professionally. I’ve learned to prioritize productivity, embrace new skills, and focus on meaningful results. The biggest change for me has been the ability to do work I enjoy without stress, while still having the time I want with my family. Challenge, Change, Growth

In the spring of my final year at university, I came across information about the MCS Internship program. It sparked my desire to challenge myself and gain hands-on experience in my field. What drew me most was the opportunity to join Mongolia’s leading group company, work alongside a highly professional team, and not only gain workplace experience but also benefit from personal development training and contribute to real projects.

Over the course of three months, I participated in the Oyu Tolgoi underground mine’s ore handling station construction project. For the first time, I entered an underground mine and witnessed the progress of a world-class project on-site — an extraordinary and unforgettable experience. Applying my theoretical knowledge in practice and observing the entire project implementation process under the guidance of experienced engineers helped me acquire a wealth of new knowledge and skills.

During this time, I firmly realized that I was on the right career path, and I came to define the program in three words: Challenge, Change, Growth. By the end of the internship, I had developed stronger professional skills, enhanced my problem-solving abilities, gained confidence in myself, and set clear goals for my career.

To future participants, I would say this: Don’t doubt yourself — try, learn, and gain experience, because this is not just a job, it’s a path to elevating yourself to a whole new level.

Building a better tomorrow

After completing my bachelor’s degree this spring, I wanted to spend the summer gaining meaningful and valuable experience before starting my master’s studies. From the moment I learned about the internship program at MCS International LLC, I knew — “This is exactly the opportunity I’ve been looking for.” 

What made this program truly stand out was that it didn’t just give students a glimpse of the workplace atmosphere — it provided the chance to work on real projects and develop professional skills in a practical setting. 

During my internship with the Business Development Department, I had the opportunity to contribute to a wind power plant project. For the first time, I applied my theoretical knowledge in real-life conditions and discovered the importance of quickly adapting to challenges. Taking part in the “Solergy Day” event with my colleagues gave me a deeper appreciation for the value of the energy sector and the power of teamwork, and made me proud to be part of such a dedicated team. Seeing how renewable energy projects contribute to reducing carbon emissions not only in Mongolia but globally reinforced my confidence that I have chosen the right path. This meaningful, supportive, and forward-looking program gave me not only professional skills, but also inspiration and the confidence to open the door to new opportunities.

In the fall of my Junior year at University, I heard about the launch of the “MCS Scholarship” and was immediately interested. I realized that receiving a year-long scholarship along with the opportunity to do an internship of up to three months at one of Mongolia’s leading group companies would be an immensely valuable experience for both my professional and personal growth. 


During my internship at MCS International LLC, my perception that “it is difficult for a woman to pursue an engineering career” completely changed. I personally experienced the respect, equality, and encouragement of my colleagues. The patient guidance and trust-based leadership style of the project team leaders inspired me to never be afraid to ask questions and to keep learning new things.

This program was a unique experience that gave me confidence, growth, and a sense of value all at once. Throughout the internship, I enhanced my professional skills, contributed to real projects, improved my problem-solving abilities, and most importantly, became fully confident in myself and my engineering career.

To future participants, I would say this: believe in yourself, keep your curiosity alive, never be afraid to ask questions, and learn from your colleagues—these are the greatest investments you can gain from this program.
